Since then, the U.S and U.S.S.R have been struck by ballistic missile that were launched by each other. In 1970, the U.S intended to launch nuclear missile, but were sabotage so the missile cannot take off. The U.S suspected that it was U.S.S.R agent that sabotaged the Nuclear Launch, so they set up a program called "Red Smoke".

James Shea (Gerard Butler), a 45 year old Navy SEAL, got a Medal Of Honor medal for his bravery in WW2, he was pointed as an On-Field agent that will be deployed to U.S.S.R. His commander-in-chief, the President Of United Of America, William Shane (Jeremy Irons), tasks him to meet Norman Johnson (Michael C. Hall) an informant that had been in an undercover operation in Russia for 2 years.

Shea was deployed from Alaska and landed in the far east of USSR, where the area was like abandoned for no reason. There were just a small infantry unit, so he could take them down quite easily and proceed to the city of Omsk in the middle of the country.

Shea went to the barracks where the meeting was promised, but the barrack's security was so tight, he sneaks and taking some soldiers down and hide their bodies to proceed. He meets Norman in one of the buildings. When the situation was dark, Norman gave him some documents about where the nuclear base is and then Shea proceed to go to the base.

Shea begins to wonder, why was the meeting so far from the location. The location of the nuclear is in Vladivostok in the far east U.S.S.R. it took days from Omsk to Vladivostok by car. Shea infiltrates the military base there and went all over the place to find the missile. After causing big trouble by killing the soldiers there, he interogates a high ranking officer there asking where the missiles are. The officer burst of laughing, told him that he was fooled there is no Nuclear missile on the USSR soil at the moment, everything had been shipped to Cuba and are ready to launch at anytime. Provoked, Shea kills the officer. He then uses the communication radio, becuase it is the far east of USSR, he can use it to reach U.S and told them to prepare the shelter, while he tried to stop them.

After that, Shea uses a small plane and flew to the U.S. He meets with the President in the shelter. He was there with only one guard code named GHOST (Sean Patrick Flanery), the President had an intention to stop Red Smoke, and get ready to surrender. But Shea convinced him to let him try and then he left for Cuba.

Shea landed on Cuba with a Navy SEAL unit by water. Shea opens fire stealthily and takes out a unit guarding the missile. When Shea shuts down the missile, he sees Norman. Shea chases after Norman, and they had a fight near the armory that were full. James overpowers Norman by stabbing him multiple times on the guts. Before Norman falls, he said "Be careful, We can't see a Ghost, but a Ghost can see us" and then dies.

REVIEWS
Picture
"Despite a few distracting plot inconsistencies, the film works once it is just Gerard Butler beating a bunch of Russians to a pulp. This type of film should appeal well to fans of the Scottish movie star as it fits right in with his resume." - Paul Onkean, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"I really wanted to like this one, and parts of it are a lot of fun, but the lack of villain development hurt this one. You can only watch Butler kill nameless soldiers so many times until it all starts to bleed together and lose its impact."  - Clark Davis, JoBlo.com

"This film gives Gerard Butler the opportunity to indulge in some old school action shenanigans, but the story seems completely disposable." - Stephen Anderson, Entertainment Weekly
