Inside a relatively decent sized house somewhere in Toronto, Canada, a beautiful blonde girl named Cassandra (Stephanie Anne Mills) can be seen inside her bedroom sluggishly waking up to start the morning. After doing a few brief stretches, she hurries her way to the bathroom to check herself on the mirror. Scoffing at the unkept nature of her looks, she begins to extensively prim herself up, straightening up her hair and trading her pajamas for a light green t-shirt, white mini skirt with brown boots. She poses in satisfaction until her father John Novella (Donovan Patton) calls her over to the kitchen for breakfast.
During breakfast, John and his wife Stacy (Tara Strong) try to tell Cassandra that the first day of the school year will bring about a special surprise, but she reassures them that she can telegraph every surprise known to man. John is willing to believe her, but Stacy has her doubts. And as Cassandra sees her bus and heads out the door, Stacy asks John if they should’ve told her. John says that she’s old enough to figure the bigger picture out. A bit of backstory (and narration from Cassandra herself) reveals that she is a budding fashionista who has a flare for the dramatics and for being a bit of a flirt. Known for her beauty, she’s competed in several beauty pageants and is just coming off a summer where she won the Miss Muskowa tiara. When she arrives at Nixon High and skips towards the hallways, the first people she sees are her BFFs Peyton (Catherine Taber) and Summer (Hynden Welch).
The three excitedly gab on about their summer until the loud joyous cries of a unfamiliar voice emerge. Skateboarding inside the school is a more tomboyish, energetic looking girl who stops after seeing Cassandra and introduces herself as Robyn (Nika Futterman), Cassandra’s cousin. When asked what she’s doing inside the school, Robyn reveals that she and her dad moved in and transferred to this school. Not only that, she moved in next to Cassandra’s house. Cassandra is elated over her cousin joining the school and soon introduces her to Peyton and Summer. While Summer remains cordial, Robyn and Peyton begin to flirt with each other much to the others amusement. Peyton soon begins to boast about the fancy cruise she and her family went on to Maui and shows off a few selfies of her in her bikini, all of which are met with positive responses (and a nose bleed from Summer).
The bell soon rings however and the four head onward to their first class with dread. Robyn asks Cassandra why the mood between them had changed dramatically and she reveals that they are about to meet who they consider the most boring and frankly terrifying teacher in Nixon High. Mr. Everbuddy (Steven Wright). Known for his unflinching face and soul shattering share, Robyn appears unfused by this and appears ready to call his bluff, which she does throughout history class as he rails on about early civilization, whispering to her classmates calling him ‘Mr. Frozen Face’. This doesn’t go unnoticed and the two soon engage in a quick banter which ends when Robyn puts Mr. Everbuddy on his back with two simple words “Insomnia King”. The class roars in laughter and she soon becomes the talk of the school. Peyton and Summer commend her for her humor and offer to have her sit with them during lunch, an offer she accepts.
During lunch, Cassandra sees Jupiter (Diego Luna) come up to them and begins to blush mightily. When Jupiter comes up to their table, astrology book in hand, Cassandra immediately lets him sit with them without haste. Cassandra then begins to try and flirt with Jupiter, but Robyn ends up interrupting their discussion by gulping down an entire soda can and letting out a major burp, one that is met by approval by the rest of the cafeteria and Jupiter. Cassandra hides her disappointment with a laugh and a smile.
The school day comes to an end and Cassandra, Peyton and Summer begin to head over to their favorite place. The Groovy Gravy Mall. Having never been over there, Cassandra invites Robyn over to show her what it's like. When they arrive at the mall, Robyn immediately falls in love with the food aisle and begins to head over there before being told about the fashion department.
After some encouraging from Cassandra, Robyn begrudgingly heads over there and begins to look around until she sees two people around the same age as they are and learns from Peyton that they are Gideon (Drake Bell) and Sadie (Miranda Cosgrove), employees of the mall. Peyton whispers to Gideon that she should talk to 'the cute one', leading to Robyn to try and talk to Sadie. This leads to Robyn and Sadie hosting a rap battle in which Robyn dominates. Gideon watches in disapproval and is only persuaded not to stop by the look of Cassandra and Peyton's flirty eyes. Once the four girls have gotten all of their clothing, they head their separate ways for the night. When Robyn wishes Cassandra a good night, Cassandra says that she's gonna fit in just fine.
The next morning, Cassandra prepares for a new day of school when she gets a text from her phone from Robyn. Robyn reveals that a video of her roasting Mr. Everbuddy received twenty thousand hits in just one day much to her excitement. When she arrives at school, everyone gathers around to watch a proud Robyn await the arrival of the girl who posted the video. Cassandra appears stunned to learn that the most popular and beautiful girl at school Stephanie (Emile Claire Barlow) was the one who posted it.
Robyn tries to contain herself as she looks at Stephanie's body and face. Worrying for her, Cassandra tries to get involved and drag Robyn to her class. Stephanie giggles and tells her not to worry, for Robyn's in very good company, having roasted Mr. Everbuddy many times before. But never in the way she did it. Stephanie then sets up a challenge for Robyn, an arm wrestling match with Stephanie's boyfriend, the muscular football player Hugh Assonon (Vincent Martella). It appears Robyn has finally met her match until she plays the old 'bald eagle' treat and distracts Hugh long enough to fight back and win. Concerned for her well being, Cassandra finally manages to drag Robyn away from the crowd and to her class.
The rest of the day sees Cassandra try to talk to her friends and garner attention to no avail. From new clothing ideas to talking to them at lunch and even gossiping about the other girls, Cassandra seems to be completely left out in place of Robyn. The final straw comes after school when Robyn is asked to go to mall with Peyton and Summer and not Cassandra. Cassandra trudges in her room, depressed and flops onto her bed, sobbing into her pillow until her father comes in to check on her. After hearing her troubles, John begins to reminisce on how he used to be a part of his friend group until a new guy came in and took his spot. In the end, all John can tell her is to find a common ground.
The next day, Cassandra goes to confront Robyn and call her out for 'stealing' her friends away. Robyn tries to calm her down, but a crowd is watching her trying to see her 'roast' Cassandra. A back and forth argument ensues which ends with Cassandra daring Robyn to roast her if popularity is all that matters to her. Robyn sweats a bit but after looking at her cousin's face, she declines to roast her.
She admits that she never intended to get this popular and obtain her friend group. All she wanted was to fit in, something she never got to do in her old school. Cassandra is taken aback and apologizes for her behavior, admitting that she finds it hard watching her friends go with Robyn and not for her. But Peyton and Summer assure her that they will always remain friends and apologize for excluding her. The four make a vow to stay together as such for the rest of the school year, which warms the hearts of the crowd for a few seconds...until Stephanie struts into the hallways wearing a mini skirt. The crowd follows her around, much to Robyn's relief (they were starting to grate on her) and the four laugh them off.
The pilot ends with the four at the mall, enjoying some slices of pizza and soda. Cassandra and Robyn race each other to see who can finish their soda can first. In the end, it is Robyn who finishes before Cassandra and lets out a triumphant burp. Cassandra however lets out an even bigger, more gigantic belch. The four look on, shocked at first but laugh it out as Cassandra and Robyn embrace.

The episode begins a few weeks after the last episode with Robyn (Nika Futterman) readying herself to take on ‘Insane Lane’, the most spine-tingling, heart-pounding skating course of all. Peyton (Catherine Taber) watches on, videotaping the event on her phone while Cassandra (Stephanie Anne Mills) and Summer (Hynden Walch) cheer her on. Robyn blitzes through the course with relative ease, making it through tricky courses ‘Ollie Osbourne’, ‘Grinded By The Sun’ and ‘Flipping The Bird’ before entering the ‘Mother Hawker’, the most intense ramp ever devised in a skateboarding rink.
She does several flips on the ramp, all impressive in execution. The others cheer for her, but Cassandra soon notices that she’s going a bit too fast and asks if Robyn could slow down, Robyn doesn’t hear her and keeps skating. Soon the three realize she is running out of control and begin to freak out, calling for her to stop. Robyn finally does hear them just as she’s about to lose control, but by then it’s too late as she flies off the ramp.
Cassandra chases after Robyn, trying to catch her. In the end though, Robyn ends up crashing onto Cassandra and pinning her onto the ground. Robyn celebrates being the ‘world champion of skating’ for a bit until she notices Cassandra lying on the ground and helps her up. Peyton and Summer run up to them in concern, but Robyn assures them that they’re fine. Even more than that, they’re ‘Fa-Sass’.
Robyn gets confused looks from everyone and explains that it’s a cool nickname she came up for her and Cassandra to describe their relationship. Peyton and Summer glance at each other and come up with excuses to head for home. As they do so, Robyn looks away, embarrassed.
That night during dinner, Cassandra asks why Robyn came up with a nickname for them. Robyn isn’t responsive at first, looking at her dinner despondently. Stacy (Tara Strong) notices this and asks Robyn if everything is okay. Robyn quietly tells them that she’s not hungry and heads off to her room for bed. Concerned, John (Donovan Patton)considers talking to her, but Cassandra offers to do so in his place.
Inside Cassandra and Robyn’s room, Robyn can be seen softly crying to herself when she hears the door knocking. She lets her in and Cassandra sees the tears on her face. She comes up to her and asks her what’s wrong. Robyn says she doesn’t get how Peyton and Summer didn’t understand Fa-Sass. Trying to understand, Cassandra asks what a ‘Fa-Sass’ is. Robyn explains that it’s the two of them. The bond they share as a family.
“But they don’t know that.” Cassandra admires Robyn going out of their way to give them their own name, but she’s still new to them and they don’t fully understand their connection yet. Plus, the actual definition of a ‘Fa-Sass’ hasn’t been created yet. She then asks Robyn what a Fa-Sass really means. Robyn cannot answer the question.
Cassandra sits by her, trying to cheer her up, saying that ideas take time to fester and blossom into something great. Fa-Sass may not be perfect now, but she knows that one day the nickname will be trending. It just needs time and some more thought. She also says that it’s a lot better than her first catchphrase, “Everything’s going Cassie.”. Robyn and Cassandra spend the next few seconds trading bad catchphrases for themselves and laugh at them. The two hug each other, Cassandra promising Robyn that she’ll get it one day.
The next day during science class, Mr. Everbuddy (Steven Wright) reminds them that tomorrow is picture day and reminds everyone to wear their absolute best and goes over the dress code. Cassandra smirks, knowing what she and her BFFs are doing today. After class, Cassandra, Peyton and Summer make plans to work on a ‘Picture Day Fashion Show’ and garner clothes from the Groovy Gravy Mall. When Robyn hears of their plans and is asked to come, Robyn tries to pass up the offer saying she’ll just go in her normal wear.
“Uh, Robbie? I’m pretty sure that’s a bad idea.”
Robyn hears Stephanie G (Emile Claire Barlow) next to her and attempts not to be distracted by her. Noticing this, Peyton comes up to her and whispers a few flirty phrases to her. Robyn smiles widely and stands next to her in advance. Cassandra comes up to Stephanie and asks what the problem is, to which Stephanie reveals that one time a girl got caught looking normal and got humiliated by the entire class, even creating a new nickname for her: ‘Blandie Bayley’.
They all shudder the prospect of Robyn becoming the next ‘Blandie Bayley’ as Cassandra makes Robyn’s participation mandatory, much to her reluctance. When the four leave though, Hugh (Vincent Martella) and asks if they bought it. The two break down into a laughing fit and walk off to their class: Stephanie walking into the door before realizing there’s a door knob there.
At the Groovy Gravy Mall, Cassandra, Peyton and Summer are buying everything they can see much to Gideon's displeasure. But before he can tell them to stop, he takes one glance at Peyton glaring at him and explaining the situation and stares at her in awe. Sensing his temptation, Peyton offers him a hundred dollar bill so they can continue their shopping spree. Gideon obliges, letting them do whatever they want in spite of Robyn's inner rage (Sadie (Miranda Cosgrove) ends up taking the hundred dollar bill).
By the time they head out, Cassandra has so many bags she can barely see and has to rely on Summer to tell her where to go. She ends up tripping and bumping into Jupiter (Diego Luna), nearly dropping her bags on the process. Jupiter recovers them and asks if she's planning anything for tonight. She stammers on and on until Peyton comes in explaining they have a fashion show planned at Cass's house. Intrigued, Jupiter offers to come watch. Cassandra breaks into an overexcited cheer, stunning and amusing some of them. When Cassandra sees their reaction, she blushes in embarrassment and welcomes him to come.
That evening: Cassandra, Peyton and Summer all take turns showing off some of their finest picture day fashion wear to the audience Jupiter and Cass's parents. When it's Robyn's turn however, she has cold feet and finds all this stupid. By this point, Stephanie is shown skipping her way home and hears commotion going on from inside the house, she ends up bumping the door and gets in an argument with it, something that takes everyone's attention. Jupiter opens the door and sees Stephanie.
Confused, Stephanie learns about the fashion show to prevent Robyn from becoming a ‘Blandie Bayley'. After being reminded of how she told her story, she cheerfully admits that the story was fake and introduces Robyn to her ‘funny side'. Everyone steps back in anticipation, seemingly awaiting a tirade from Robyn. But instead, she chuckles softly and tells Stephanie she got her good. She then gives her some advice.
“Next time, instead of making up nonsense to my cuz and her friends, maybe you should focus on your own wardrobe problems. No offense, but your midriff looks like it's going to burst in a great explosion and there's no way we can afford getting fired on the second day.”
Stephanie begins to panic and frantically asks Robyn what to do. They both turn to Cassandra for the answer and she says she can give Stephanie the outfit she had planned to give Robyn beforehand and let her wear it for tomorrow. Stephanie agrees to it, causing Robyn to breathe a sigh of relief. A few minutes pass and Stephanie comes out wearing the attire, receiving rave reviews for her look. Stacy and John commend Cassandra and Robyn for their unique way of dealing with her fashion problem calling it a regular ‘Fa-Sass'.
Robyn hears the word and expects everyone to laugh at her, but instead Peyton and Summer compliment the name and call them a great team. Feeling better about herself, Robyn shakes Cassandra's hand, celebrating a job well done. Robyn beams a large smile that fits perfectly well with the school yearbook.

Summer begins to wonder where Robyn (Nika Futterman) is as class is about to start, Cassandra points to the doors which open as soon as Robyn cries out in excitement on her skateboard.
She skates all across the hallways, telling everyone to get out of the way and keeping focus on the path. Then, her eyes catch a glimpse of Peyton (Catherine Taber) looking at herself in the mirror. Having lost focus, she ends up crashing into a door. Cassandra, Summer and Peyton run up to Robyn and check up on her.
After Cassandra helps her up, Robyn claims that she’s fine and while looking at Peyton tells her “so are you”. Peyton plays along with it, sending a jokingly flirty comment of her own back. The bell rings and Peyton begins to walk her way to her first class. Robyn smiles dreamily at first, which gets Cassandra and Summer to poke fun at her for having a crush.
Embarrassed, Robyn tells them to back off. Cassandra eases up on her, saying they were just having fun and that anyone can have a crush. As she says that, Jupiter (Diego Luna) comes up to her asking if she studied for that science test. She babbles like an idiot before nodding and smiling nervously. Once Jupiter is gone, Cassandra reassures Robyn that it’s okay if she has a crush on Peyton.
Robyn laughs off the idea, resisting the idea of having a crush on her and storms off to her class. As she does though, she begins to have romantic thoughts about her and Peyton together. This continues into science class, which doesn’t go unnoticed by Cassandra, Summer or Mr. Everbuddy (Steven Wright), who warns her to ‘keep her focus’. During lunch, Robyn’s mind is still stuck on Peyton. As she waits in line with her tray, she begins to hear Peyton ranting to her friends on something. Curious, she decides to eavesdrop a little and hears that she’s just not into people who are ‘over the top, crass and in general loud’.
Devastated, Robyn runs out of the cafeteria much to Summer’s concern. Cassandra then asks Peyton why she gave Troy a hundred dollars if she didn’t even like him. Peyton shrugs, saying he had the ‘occasional sense of discipline’. That night, Robyn can be seen inside her bedroom having a nightmare about Peyton teasing her for being ‘disgusting’. Horrified, she wakes up and glances at her skateboard. She jumps out of bed, grabs her skateboard and throws it outside the house.
The next morning, Robyn comes up to Cassandra nervously asking if she can have a makeover. Taken back by this, Cassandra agrees to it and asks why. She has no reason, only just wanting a ‘change of look’. Cassandra watches in confusion. That whole day Robyn doesn’t act like herself in the slightest, staying silent and responding politely to teachers, not trolling or ‘roasting’ anyone. Cassandra looks on, slightly concerned but goes through with the makeover that night in spite of asking Robyn if she’s sure of it.
The next morning, as Cassandra and her friend group gab on the gossip, Robyn appears wearing a completely different and more mature wardrobe. She greets Peyton formally and lightly kisses her hand. She then invites her over to her house for dinner, which takes Peyton back. She accepts the offer but as the day progresses, it becomes clear Robyn is not herself.
That evening, Peyton knocks on the door of Robyn's house and is welcomed by the tune of some awful violin playing by Gibson (Drake Bell) (who clearly did not want to be here). Robyn welcomes her inside and the two are seated in the dining table. Despite still feeling a bit awkward, Peyton thanks her for inviting her and compliments the house.
Cassandra arrives with menus for both of them and some iced tea. After Cassandra heads over to the kitchen, she instructs Stephanie (Emile Claire Barlow) and Summer to do everything they can to make Robyn crack (“But I don't want to murder the egg!” Stephanie laments).
Throughout the evening, the three mention events that occured in the school day, people they hate and talk about fashion. Yet for some reason, nothing seems to be working. It seems as though she's sticking with the path until a bee enters the house and begins to annoy Peyton.
When the bee stings Peyton, Robyn snaps slapping away the bee and accidentally spills her bowl of soup on Peyton's shirt. When Robyn realizes what she's done, she storms off in embarassment. Peyton watches in concern and runs off to check on her.
When Peyton sees Robyn on the sidewalks abd asks her what’s wrong, Robyn vents about having a crush on her and not being the right person for her which was what sparked the whole thing to begin with. Peyton tells Robyn she likes her for who she is. Sweet, determined and funny.
As it turns out, Peyton was referring to a jock named Troy who had been annoying and constantly begging her to go on a date with him and reassures her that she likes her for being herself. She also tells her not to worry about the shirt, she has dozens.
Peyton takes Robyn by the hand and the two head to the backyard to watch the stars. Stephanie can be seen whispering to Cassandra that this could be the 'ending of a beautiful crush period’, but is corrected by saying this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
