Everything was going well until they ignore a storm warning which hit them. They end up with their little wrecked boat on a mysterious island. After a few hours of walking and arguing they reach a small tribal village where everybody recognizes Randy as Detective James and treat him as a Celebrity much to the chagrin of Steve. After some inquiries and troubles as the villagers speak very broken English, Steve comes to know that only one TV Channel broadcasts on their one and only TV set which is a information channel and the channel has recently started showing Randy only hit TV Show "Detective James". Some of the villagers were Jameson (Jorge Garcia), Elliota (Tia Carrere), Marshall (Kaiwi Lyman-Mersereau), Angelica(Angelique Cabral), Julia (Keiko Agena), Nash (Keahu Kahuanui) and Lily (Ruthie Ann Miles).

They don't tell the villagers the truth that it is just a TV Show as they want to enjoy the hospitality given by the villagers and to use their help to repair their boat. The next day the villagers see that another of their goats is missing and come to Randy/Detective James for help. They explain that they have been experiencing this missing of livestock since weeks. Randy sees that it will help them pass their time while Steve is against helping them but gives in after some persuasion.

After some crazy antics and reliving through some of his scenes from the show Randy is successful in finding the livestock. He finds that they are in the possession of the man named Shaun (Jason Momoa) who lives across the village. All the villagers are afraid of him as he is some sort of fighting champion in some village sports.

Randy now in full Detective James spirit decides to confront Shaun about this and charges towards him much to the fear of villagers.

After a few hours when Randy doesn't return the villagers and Steve thinks they have lost Randy but Randy emerges with all the missing livestock and Shaun who explains them that Jameson have been selling that livestock to him in exchange of him teaching him how to fight.

After solving this case and finding his lost confidence and their boat repaired, Randy and Steve returns back.

REVIEWS

"Frankly, Detective James just doesn't feel like a big screen release. The leads, the story, the direction - all feel more like something you'd find in the bowels of Netflix rather than in a movie theater." - Ben Fullmer, Knoxville News Sentinel

"Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk have great comedic chemistry with each other. The scenes away from them struggle mightily, but livens back up whenever their banter begins." - Glenn Howard, Total Film

"I honestly don't know if I would call that a movie. Perhaps a long short film. Some of the characters are amusing, and Fillion is used well to-type as delusional and egotistical, but there's just not enough story here for a full film." - Joseph Thornton, Mercury News
