Plot: Morton, Mississippi - Every door and window in the small town town are adorned with crosses as a man and woman walk down the street at night. The woman trips, and the man helps her up, but is dragged by a chain into a dark alleyway. The woman screams. The man's head is thrown from the alleyway, landing at the woman's feet. From down the street, a young woman, Rayne (Holland Roden), walks up to her and asks if she's alright. The woman breaks down crying and pointing to the alleyway. When Rayne looks toward the alley, the woman bares her fangs, revealing she is a vampire, and prepares to bite Rayne. Rayne kicks the vampire with her steel stiletto heels, stabbing the vampire in the shoulder. Rayne then takes off her overcoat to reveal a leather suit. She then pulls out her twin blades and uses them to decapitate the vampire woman. Rayne then begins running down the street as a small army of vampires surround her.

From a nearby rooftop, Tremaine (Stephen McHattie) and Mynce (Kelly Hu) watch Rayne fight the vampires. Tremaine tells Mynce that Rayne has been asking around, trying to find her father, Kagan, the vampire king they've been trying to find for decades, and that maybe she can help them in their purge of the vampire species. Mynce argues that that since Rayne is a dhampir, half-human half-vampire, she cannot be trusted. Tremaine says "to hell with it" and pulls out a rocket launcher which he fires at the horde of vampires. The large explosion allows Rayne to escape into a nearby church, one of the few safe havens from vampires.

Belgrade, Serbia - Kagan (Manu Bennett), the leader of the Cult of Kagan, sits in a castle. He asks his associate Dariel (Ludi Lin) if he has had any luck tracking down "The Shroud". Dariel says he has not, but that there has been word that a pack of vampires were all slaughtered in America. Kagan asks him if it was the Brimstone Society, and Dariel nods. Kagan is furious and asks if they have any friends in America. Dariel says there is one person he knows of in the region. Kagan tells Dariel to go solicit his assistance at once. Dariel turns himself into a flock of bats and flies away.

Tremaine and Mynce enter the church in Mississippi. Rayne pulls out her blades, but Tremaine tells her they mean her no harm, and are not vampires. Rayne says she knows they're not vampires since a vampire couldn't enter the church, but that wouldn't mean they weren't dhampirs. Tremaine tells her he knows that Rayne is the daughter of Kagan. Rayne tells them that she has no allegiance to Kagan. She's trying to find him and kill him for raping her mother. Rayne tells the story of how her mother killed herself once she realized Rayne was part-vampire. Ever since she was a small child, Rayne has vowed for revenge against Kagan and all of his vampire children. Tremaine tells that they are from the Brimstone Society, a group who have dedicated their lives to eliminating vampires and other supernatural threats from Earth, and that they would like to help Rayne in her quest if she'll join their order. Myce is less than happy about this, but Tremaine tells her to hold her tongue as she knows damn well that they need someone with Rayne's abilities if they're ever going to stop a powerful vampire overlord like Kagan.

Merida, Mexico - A flock of bats flies into an old Spanish mission and transforms back into Dariel. He walks up to the top of a bell tower where he meets with Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada), a spanish occultist. Jorge tells Dariel that he is finally close to reassembling the remains of the ancient demon Beliar. He has already located and assembled Beliar's skull and most of his skeleton, but what he really needs to bring life back to the great demon is his heart. Dariel tells Jorge that Kagan has offered his resources to help Jorge locate the heart if he will help out with a little problem they have in Mississippi.

Back in Mississippi, Tremaine is leading Rayne through the Brimstone Society initiation. Present are other Brimstone members, Mynce and Severin (Tom Riley). Tremaine gives her a necklace of the Brimstone Society emblem and officially welcomes her into the fold. Tremaine tells Rayne that she will begin combat training with Mynce before they she is sent out into the field to combat supernatural menace.

Back in his castle in Serbia, Kagan sits with his children Ephemera (Lydia Hearst), Ferril (Meghan Ory) and Xerx (Daniel Cudmore). They are all full vampires. He tells them that they have a half-sister and he would like them to track her down and bring her home to him so that he may share his castle with all of his children.

Morton, Mississipi - In the underground lair of the Brimstone Society, Rayne (Holland) is in the middle of combat training with Mynce (Kelly Hu), who is trying to get Rayne to properly utilize her vampiric abilities while maintaining control over them. Rayne already has increased strength and agility, but Brimstone Society leader Tremaine wants to know if a dhampir could have any of the other vampiric abilities, such as shapeshifting.

New Orleans, Louisiana - Angela Bathory (Amber Valletta) meets with Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada). Bathory has the ability to summon Daemites, parasitic serpent-like creatures. Wolfe tells her to head to Morton, Mississipi and unleash her daemites upon the town to kill all of the members of the Brimstone Society so that he may collect the heart of the ancient demon Beliar, which the society may have stored in their vaults.

Belgrade, Serbia - Kagan (Manu Bennett), the vampire overlord who leads the Cult of Kagan, is readying his children for their trip to America. He tells them to head to a state known as Mississippi. By the time they arrive, Bathory's daemites should have already decimated the population of the town they need to head to, so all they'll have to do is locate their half-sister, Rayne. Kagan's children Ephemera (Lydia Hearst), Ferril (Meghan Ory) and Xerx (Daniel Cudmore) are loaded into a shipping container for their trip to avoid any sunlight on their journey to the other side of the world.

Back in Morton, Severin (Tom Riley), the Brimstone Society's chief weapon maker gives Rayne an upgraded version of her twin blades to test out. He tells her that he made them lighter and and more durable. Meanwhile, Bathory has arrived in Morton, and begins unleashing her daemites on the town. The daemites begin taking over the townspeople, forcing themselves inside the bodies and wrapping themselves around the spinal cord and tapping directly into the hosts' nervous systems. The daemites control the body of their hosts and are incapable of feeling pain. Tremaine alerts the rest of the Brimstone Society that the town is under attack, so it might be a good time to test Rayne's skills.

Mynce and Rayne head above ground and find the town run amok by daemite hosts. Mynce and Rayne attack the daemites, by chopping off their heads and limbs, but the creatures quickly regenerate, regrowing the body parts. Tremaine tells them that he's encountered the creatures once before and that the only way to kill the daemites is to sever the host's spinal cord. Rayne draws out her new and improved twin blades and cuts a host in half at the torso, killing the creature. Realizing there won't be a town left if they half to kill all the hosts, Tremaine and Severin search for the person controlling the daemites on a series of security monitors, revealing that the Brimstone Society has cameras all throughout the town. They spot a woman, Bathory, sitting on a balcony in town.

Tremaine heads to the roof of the town's church with a sniper rifle. He aims the rifle at Bathory on the balcony. He fires, hitting her in the head. However, her head quickly regenerates. She then sets her sights on Tremaine, sending several host-less daemites towards Tremaine. Rayne notices this and heads up some stairs to the balcony to confront Bathory. Sharp bones emerge from Bathory's arms, and she stabs Rayne in the shoulder. Rayne pulls the Bathory's bone out of her arm, breaking it off of Bathory. She then throws the bone at Bathory, who avoids it by jumping off the balcony to the ground below, and begins running away. Rayne leaps down and begins chasing Bathory down. Rayne chases her all the way to a quarry outside of town. Rayne tells her she has nowhere to go now, so she has to fight. Bathory begins summoning more daemites from the ground, but Rayne kicks Bathory, sending her falling down into he quarry several hundred feet below.

Rayne walks back to Morton, and finds the residents of the town are no longer possessed by daemites, but many already had to be killed during the fight. Mynce tells Rayne that she got lucky, and shouldn't go running after a supernatural creature all alone until she's completed her training. Rayne and Mynce butt heads about this and almost come to blows before they are broken up by Tremaine and Severin.

Back in Serbia, Kagan's associate Dariel (Ludi Lin) enters the castle and reports to Kagan. He tells Kagan that Wolfe's associate, Bathory, failed her mission. Unhappy with the report of failure, Kagan rips one of Dariel's eyes out and eats it. Dariel screams in agony on the floor. Kagan tells him that now he will see what Dariel sees.

New York City, New York - The children of Kagan, Emphemera (Lydia Hearst), Ferril (Meghan Ory) and Xerx have arrived in America and exit the shipping container that protected them from the sun on their journey. They discuss how hungry they are after such a long journey and immediately begin violently feeding on a group of dock workers they see. They completely drain the workers of their blood, bathing and drinking, and completely dismantling the bodies to ensure they don't become vampires themselves.

Morton, Mississippi - Rayne (Holland Roden) and Severin (Tom Riley), the Brimstone Society's weapons master, are testing out some new weapons in the subterranean headquarters of the organization. Tremaine enters the room and warns Severin that tonight will be a full moon. Rayne asks why that would matter, and Severin explains that he is actually a lycanthrope, turning into a wolf-like beast on full moons. Rayne asks if he's a werewolf, and Severin jokes that he doesn't like that offensive terminology. Tremaine and Severin show Rayne to a special, secure chamber that Severin goes to every time there's a full moon. He tells her that he'll see her later before entering the chamber and closing the door.

During the full moon, Rayne goes to the door to Severin's chamber and listens as he transforms and thrashes about the room. He bangs on the door, loudly and with great force, concerning Rayne. Mynce (Kelly Hu) tells Rayne not to worry, that the chamber door cannot be broken open no matter how much the beast tries. Tremaine goes up to the town's surface to find that there is a mob of townspeople outside of the church demanding answers from Tremaine about the recent supernatural happenings in the area that have been killing off innocent lives. The leader of the townspeople, Walters (Michael Emerson), is furious with Tremaine and the whole Brimstone Society. Tremaine tries to explain that supernatural phenomenon was always present in the area and that he set up the Society in the town to protect it from the threats that already existed, not bringing new threats to the area. Walters isn't having any of it, and threatens to burn the church down if any more incidents happen in town. Mynce emerges from the church with a machine gun in hand. She threatens to gun them all down if they don't return to their homes. A rock is thrown at her from someone in the crowd, and she retaliates by firing the gun into the crowd, hitting multiple townspeople. Tremaine and Rayne restrain Mynce and drag her back into the church. Walters and the rest the mob barricade the doors from the outside and set fire to the church. Tremaine tells them that they must hurry below ground.

Down in the Brimstone Society headquarters, Tremaine urges Rayne and Mynce to pack up all the necessities and meet him at the escape tunnel. Rayne asks what about Severin. Tremaine tells her that they cannot let him out right now since he is in his lycanthrope state and that they must worry about themselves for now and come back for him at a later date once they've made it to safety. They rush through the escape tunnel and are spit out into the middle of a swamp cemetery. They are greeted by John Sigmon (Eric Szmanda), who leads them into a large mausoleum which is actually a high-tech Brimstone Society safe house.

Morton, Mississippi - Ephemera, Ferril and Xerx arrive in Morton and see that the church is burned to the ground. Walters and what's left of the townspeople confront the vampires, telling them that they burned the Brimstone Society to the ground and will do whatever the vampires want to help them. Ferril asks what happened to the Brimstone members, and Walters tells her that they went underground when they lit fire to the church. Ferril and Xerx begin feeding on the townspeople. Ferril rips off Walters' head and drinks from it. Ephemera walks through the charred out remains of the church and finds the staircase down to the headquarters.

Beneath the remains of the church, Ephemera studies what is left of the Brimstone Society headquarters. Much of it was burned in the fire. She hears something and goes to investigate. She opens a door and finds Severin starving to death. She asks him if he is hungry. He only has the strength to nod. She uses her finger nail to cut her arm and holds it up to Severin. He tries to turn his head, but is too weak to move further. Ephemera looks Severin in the eyes and tells him it's okay, that she will take care of him, and that the Brimstone Society left him to die. He finally relents and begins drinking Ephemera's blood.

In the safe house, Tremaine accesses the Society's cameras they had throughout Morton and sees Ephemera, Ferril and Xerx slaughtering everyone and destroying all that is left of the town. Tremaine is disappointed, but Mynce says that they deserved it, and that if they were still there they could have protected the townspeople. Rayne notices on the video that her name "RAYNE" is spelled out in blood on the main street.

Plot: What remains of the Brimstone Society, Rayne (Holland Roden), Tremaine (Stephen McHattie) and Mynce (Kelly Hu) is still hiding out in the cemetery safe house with John Sigmon (Eric Szmanda). Tremaine asks Rayne if she knows why the vampires in Morton wrote her name in the blood of the townspeople, but she doesn't know why or who they are. Mynce doesn't believe Rayne and leaves the safe house and goes out side into the cemetery where she breaks a bunch of gravestones. Tremaine informs Rayne that the vampires in question are her siblings, the other children of Kagan. Rayne is surprised since they are so savage, but Tremaine tells her that they are full vampire while Rayne is only half-vampire. Rayne's humanity is what sets her apart, and may be the key to defeating her vampiric bloodline for good.

Morton, Mississippi - Ephemera (Lydia Hearst), Ferril (Meghan Ory) and Xerx (Daniel Cudmore) have slaughtered every last human in Morton. Ephemera continues to feed Severin (Tom Riley) her blood to keep control over him. Xerx asks her why she insists on keeping Severin as a pet, and she tells him that she finds him cute. Ferill, meanwhile, finds it suspicious that Severin was locked up in a cell and wants to know why the Brimstone Society found him dangerous enough to lock up.

Belgrade, Serbia - Dariel (Ludi Lin) reports the news of the slaughter in Morton to his master Kagan (Manu Bennett). Kagan then tells Dariel that he wishes to join his children in Morton. Dariel tells him that he will arrange a ship to take him to the new world. Kagan tells Dariel not to bother when he can just take Dariel's ability to fly. Dariel looks panicked, then Kagan savagely pounces on Dariel and begins feeding on his flesh. Once he's done feeding, Kagan transforms into a massive swarm of vampire bats.

In the cemetery, Mynce encounters a group of daemites. She's confused as to how they could be there. She quickly kills the demonic creatures and heads back into the safe house. On the Morton security feed Tremaine sees Ephemera leading Severin away. Rayne is happy to hear that Severin is still alive, but isn't sure why he would be with a vampire. Tremaine explains that some vampires have the ability to control those they feed their own blood to. When Mynce re-enters the safe house she demands to know what Tremaine's plan is since the area is crawling with demonic entities. Tremaine announces that Severin still being alive works in their favor. They will wait until the next full moon since it's possible that the vampires to not realize that Severin is a werewolf. This element of surprise will work in their favor since werewolves are incredibly hard to kill during a full moon, even for vampires.

Merida, Mexico - The massive flock of vampire bats arrives at the old Spanish mission Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada) calls home, and transforms back into Kagan. Wolfe is surprised that Kagan would make the trip to see him, but Kagan explains that he has made it his personal mission to help Wolfe revive the demon Beliar to lay waste upon humanity. Kagan tells Wolfe that the town of Morton has already fallen, now they just have to revive Beliar and destroy the rest of the Brimstone Society. They discuss the possible location of Beliar's heart, and Kagan says it's most likely in the Brimstone Society vaults, which must be somewhere in Morton.

Back at the safe house, the Brimstone Society begins to hear a loud banging noise on the outside of the mausoleum. Sigmon goes to check it out, but is killed by a Daemite Warrior, a super strong three headed daemite. Mynce throws a grenade at the daemite warrior and ducks for cover. The blast doesn't kill the demon, but it does stun it. Rayne charges at the daemite warrior with her twin blades, slicing the creature into several pieces. The daemite warrior slowly starts repairing its wounds. Tremaine throws a special liquid nitrogen grenade at the demon, freezing it. Rayne attacks again with her blades, this time shattering the demon into shards.

Tremaine tells Sigmon its suicide, but Sigmon tells them that Rayne must be protected so that she can defeat her father once and for all. The rest of the Brimstone Society makes their way away from the cemetery when they hear a large explosion. Tremaine tells them to keep moving and that Sigmon was a good soldier who died an honorable death. Rayne is upset because she feels that it is her fault all these people are dead. Mynce agrees with her. This infuriates Rayne, who shows her vampire teeth for the first time, and she attacks Mynce, throwing her against a tree. Tremaine breaks up the fight and tells them that they have to keep moving before more daemites are summoned.

Kagan (Manu Bennett) arrives in Morton to meet his children Ephemera (Lydia Hearst), Ferril (Meghan Ory) and Xerx (Daniel Cudmore). They show him the deaths they have caused in the town, but Kagan is not impressed with his children. He tells them if he and Wolfe are going to revive the great demon Beliar, more souls will need to be captured. He sends Ferril and Xerx out to destroy other nearby towns and bring back their bodies so that they can be turned in Mutates, mutated zombie-like creatures, to do their bidding and fortify their strong hold on Morton. Ephemera asks why Morton is so important, and Kagan tells her that Morton is key. Morton is where Beliar must be resurrected.

The Brimstone Society arrives in a small town in the swamps of Louisiana. They decide to find a safe place to rest. They find an old boat yard and set up in one of the boats to rest in shifts. Suddenly they are attacked by a giant beast called the Queen of the Underworld. The monster is being controlled by a voodoo priestess named Marassa (Gina Torres). Mynce and Rayne leave the boat and begin battling against the beast. The beast eats Mynce. Rayne begins stabbing the beast. She then sees a glowing rib and pulls it out of the Queen. Suddenly the beast stabs Rayne and drives the rib inside of her. Rayne falls down on the ground in pain. Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada) suddenly appears and rips the rib out of Rayne and leaves her for dead.

Before long, Morton is overrun with demonic Mutates. Epehemera and Kagan watch as the Mutates slowly march into town, controlled by Ferril. Kagan tells his children that he is pleased with the army they are building. Xerx feels left out without much to do, but Kagan tells him that his skills in battle will be needed before long. Ephemera asks what kind of battle they are in for, and Kagan tells them that they will go to better against their sister Rayne. Xerx asks who else they will fight. Kagan tells him that Rayne is the only one with the ability to stop them. Ferill scoffs at the thought of their dhampir sister stopping them.

Rayne dreams of Kagan telling her that the rib she was stabbed with was the rib of Beliar. Rayne wakes up and discovers that it is Tremaine is the one telling her this information. He tells her that she needs to locate the monster inside of herself and use it to fight her family. She used it against Mynce so it's in her somewhere, she just has to find out how to control it and use it to her advantage.

In Morton, Mississippi, Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada) finally has assembled the body Beliar the demon. He tells Kagan (Manu Bennett) that he needs fresh blood to awaken the great beast Beliar. Kagan sends him children Ephemera (Lydia Hearst), Ferril (Meghan Ory) and Xerx (Daniel Cudmore) out to bring back humans to freshly slaughter. Xerx angrily says that if Wolfe had assembled Beliar's body sooner they could have used the people of Morton. Kagan reminds Xerx that hindsight is 20/20, and tells his children to leave at once and not to come back without humans to bleed out.

Rayne (Holland Roden) wakes up to find Tremaine (Stephen McHattie) coughing up blood. She asks him if he's alright. At first he tries to pass it off as just a bad cough, but soon admits that he has lung cancer. Rayne asks him how long he's known, and he tells her several years. Rayne asks how much longer he has left. Tremaine replies that his doctor expected him to die years earlier, but he's accepted it long ago. He tells her that he never wanted to outlive his wife and kids, but here he is now. Rayne is taken aback by Tremaine's confession. They begin moving again down the road to the next town.

Xerx heads into a town and begins feeding the locals his blood in order to control them. The town soon is completely under Xerx's control. He starts ordering them to head toward Morton so that their blood may help awaken Beliar. Rayne and Tremaine happen upon the town and see Xerx ordering the townspeople into a line out of town. Tremaine tells Rayne that if they can kill Xerx, they will end his control over the people. Rayne asks what Tremaine thinks is going on, and Tremaine says he hopes his worst fears haven't come true and leaves it at that.

Rayne, not exactly being a strategist, comes out of hiding and confront Xerx. Xerx is surprised to see her, and is surprised to discover that his half-sister that everyone is worried about is so slight in frame. He towers over he. She pulls out her twin blades. Xerx laughs in her face. He then turns his arms into blades made of bone. Then begin fighting through the town square in the darkness of night. Meanwhile, Tremaine sets up a barricade to block the townspeople from heading towards Morton, Mississippi.

Xerx and Rayne continue to fight it out. Xerx has the upper hand until the sun slowly starts to rise. As the sky slowly lights up, Xerx slowly begins losing strength. Rayne manages to slice off one of Xerx's arm blades with her twin blades. Xerx screams in agony as black blood streams out of his cut off limb. Rayne then finishes Xerx off by decapitating him as the sun rises. The townspeople wake back up from Xerx's control with no memory of what has happened. They're confused, but they continue to go about their business as if nothing has happened.

Rayne and Tremaine decide that they need to start making their way back to Morton, Mississippi. Tremaine tells Rayne that if Kagan's children are controlling that number of people and having them walk towards Morton that can only mean one thing: Kagan and Wolfe have managed to assemble all of the pieces of the great demon Beliar. Tremaine announces that they have to figure out how to stop them by the time of the next full moon so that they can use Severin as part of their plan, if Severin is still alive.

Dozens of humans are lined up in front of Kagan (Manu Bennett) and Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada), getting their throats slashed. The bodies are then bled out into a sort of aquaduct draining the blood toward the body of Beliar, which is slowly soaking up the blood to regain its life. Ferril (Meghan Ory) arrives and informs her father that she has learned that her brother Xerx has been killed. Kagan doesn't have to ask her who did it, he already knows that Rayne is responsible. Kagan orders Ferril to track down Rayne and what remains of the Brimstone Society and make them suffer. Ferril tells Kagan that she will do as he wishes and leaves Morton to track down Rayne.

Rayne (Holland Roden) and Tremaine (Stephen McHattie) are making their way towards Morton, Mississippi on foot. Tremaine is getting weaker and sicker by the day. They stop to rest. Tremaine gives Rayne his Brimstone Society medallion. He tells her that it will be up to her to rebuild the Brimstone Society after all this is done. He trusts that she will do everything in her power to rid the world of supernatural menace after he is gone. Rayne doesn't want to talk about this subject, but Tremaine says there's no point in avoiding the inevitable.

Ferril stands over the body of her dead brother Xerx and uses her advanced sense of smell to start tracking Rayne and Tremaine. She conjures up some daemites and she has them follow her as she tracks down the remaining members of the Brimstone Society to hunt them down.

Ephemera (Lydia Hearst) feeds Severin (Tom Riley) more of her blood to maintain her control over him. She takes him around Morton on a leash, observing as the line of bodies grows, and the body of Beliar soaks up more blood as the demon beast regenerates further.

Rayne and Tremaine continue on their journey toward Morton, but they have to stop when Tremaine has a coughing fit, coughing up a bunch of blood. Rayne proposes that they stop for the day and continue their trek in the morning. Tremaine doesn't want to stop since they're not in a secure location, but the coughing fit has drained him and he doesn't have enough energy to continue on so he relents and stops to rest.
Rayne and Tremaine sleep in shifts so that they can keep a look out for enemies. While Rayne sleeps, Tremaine hears a noise and goes to investigate. He is attacked by two Daemites and Ferril. The three surround him and demand to know where Rayne is. He refuses to tell them, so the daemites start bonding with Tremaine to take over him as a host. Tremaine struggles against the daemites, so Ferril grabs Tremaine by the throat as they take over his body. Tremaine pulls the pin from a grenade, killing all three of them. The explosion wakes Rayne and she rushes out to find the two daemites, Ferril and Tremaine all blown to pieces. Rayne sheds a tear and starts to walk toward Morton again, determined to end this once and for all.

Kagan (Manu Bennett) is shocked that another one of his offspring has been killed by the Brimstone Society. He is also frustrated that Beliar is taking so long to bring back to life. In his frustration, Kagan mouth opens like a snake, and he bites the head off of Jorge Wolfe (Oscar Jaenada). He dumps Wolfe's body so that the blood will drain into Beliar's body to continue his revival.

Kagan confides in his daughter Ephemera (Lydia Hearst) that she is the only one left he can trust. She must finish bringing people to town to finish the regeneration of Beliar. He is sure that they are close, but that they need to move quickly. He sends Ephemera out to find more blood while he stays in Morton to guard the body of Beliar in case the remaining Brimstone Society members decide to strike the town. Ephemera takes Severin (Tom Riley) along as her pet.

Rayne (Holland Roden) is still reeling from the death of her mentor Tremaine. She is walking down an isolated road that she believes will take her to Morton. As she walks, she recalls the death of her mother, Amelia (Elena Satine), when she was just a young girl. When Kagan discovered that Amelia had a child and that the child was a dhampir, Kagan personally showed up to brutally murder Amelia in front of Rayne. Kagan forced her to watch the entire ordeal.

Ephemera tells Severin that despite her father's orders, she is not on her way to find more blood, but rather she is on her way to kill her half-sister, Rayne. Ephemera asks Severin what he knows about her, but Severin tells her that he doesn't know much about her other than that Tremaine took a special interest in her. He just made the weapons, he tells her. They arrive at the spot of her sister Ferril's death. Ephemera isn't sure what to make of the other partial bodies. Severin recognizes the head of Tremaine, but does not tell Ephemera this. Ephemera then starts tracking Rayne's path from that scene. She bets that they can catch up to her before dawn if they keep moving as she assumes that Rayne, being half human, will be sleeping at night.

Rayne wakes up from a nightmare to see that it is dark outside. She is laying beside a small fire she made along the roadside to stay warm. She puts out the fire and continues walking down the road. Ephemera and Severin soon come across the fire. It's still warm. Ephemera tells Severin that they must hurry up and catch up to her before the sun rises. Rayne is walking further when she hears laughter behind her. She looks, but it is pitch black outside. Ephemera walks closer to Rayne to reveal herself. Rayne is surprised to see Severin with her. Ephemera tells her that Severin is under her control now.

Rayne tells Ephemera that she killed the rest of Kagan's children, so she can kill her too. Ephemera laughs. She then hands Severin a sword and orders him to attack Rayne. Ephemera smiles at Rayne and waits for her minion to attack. Severin looks down at the sword Ephemera gave him and swings it wildly. Ephemera and Rayne look at each other. Suddenly Ephemera's head falls off of her body and hits the ground. Rayne is stunned, telling Severin she thought he was under Ephemera's control. He tells her that Ephemera's vampiric mind control doesn't work on werewolves as well as it does on humans. Rayne asks Severin when the next full moon is, and he tells her that it will be the next night. She tells him they better hurry back to Morton.

Plot: Rayne (Holland Roden) and Severin (Tom Riley) are on their way toward Morton, Mississippi, not long after they killed Rayne's last remaining sibling, Ephemera. Rayne says that if they can kill her father, that they may be able to rid the lands of vampires once and for all. They discuss possible plans for fighting Kagan on their walk to town. Rayne has never fought anyone so powerful before and isn't sure that she can fight him alone. Severin reminds Rayne that it is going to be a full moon that night, so he can assist in the fight. Rayne suggests they hide out near Morton until the sun starts setting. Severin agrees with the plan, but adds that he isn't always able to control himself when he turns into a werewolf, so they need to make it to Morton just before dark, and that Rayne will want to steer clear of town when he transforms.

Kagan (Manu Bennett) is in Morton, bleeding out a dead body over the body of the ancient demon Beliar. As the blood drips down onto Beliar, the great beast lets out a roar. Kagan smiles at Beliar, telling him that he is happy to meet such a great evil being. Beliar stands up, towering over the formidable Kagan. Kagan begins speaking an ancient tongue to the demon. Beliar begins destroying the buildings in Morton, incinerating them with his fire breath. Kagan is pleased by the power of the beast and knowing that when the Brimstone Society comes, he'll be ready for them.

Rayne and Severin arrive in Morton just before sundown and find the town completely in burned down ruins. Rayne and Severin are shocked at the destruction of the town. Kagan confronts them and welcomes them to his sanctuary. The earth begins to shake and Beliar marches toward them. The sun is finally all the way down, replaces by a bright full moon. Severin drops to his knees and begins convulsing and screaming in agony. He transforms into a werewolf and lunges at Beliar. Kagan is surprised to learn that after all the time Severin spent as Ephemera's pet that he turned out to be a werewolf all along. Rayne runs away from the area and hides behind a fallen tree.

Rayne watches as Severin and Beliar fight it out. Kagan begins searching the forest for Rayne, not wanting her to escape. Severin latches onto Beliar's throat. Beliar wasn't quite back to full strength, having just woken up from a million year slumber. Severin is faster than the lumbering giant demon. Beliar uses its fire breath at Severin, but Severin is too fast. Severin bites at the achilles of Beliar, sending the beast crashing to the ground in agony. Kagan is shocked that Beliar is being defeated by a mere werewolf.

Severin's bite has sent werewolf DNA coursing through Beliar. Beliar begins having a seizure. Severin begins transforming back into human form as clouds block out the moon. Beliar explodes in a violent burst of blood, drenching Severin in the process. Beliar's blood begins burning Severin's flesh. He rolls around on the the ground to try to stop it. Kagan finally finds Rayne hiding in the woods. He asks if they can sit down for a conversation before any more fighting begins.

Rayne (Holland Roden) immediately lunges at her father, the vampire king Kagan (Manu Bennett), with her double blades. She cuts off his arm, but it regrows in a matter of seconds. They exchange blows and continue their fight over the ruins of the church in Morton. Severin (Tom Riley) is laying on the ground, exhausted, but back in his human form after battling the demon Beliar.

Kagan tells Rayne that he impressed with her strength, agility and endurance considering she is half human. Rayne demands that Kagan tell her why he killed her mother. Kagan explains, in a mocking manner, that she had simply outlived her usefulness. He executed the mothers of all of his children. She asks why he would do something like that, and he tells her that he is not interested in having a wife or lover, he simply used the women, human, vampire or otherwise, to provide him with offspring to do his bidding. He wasn't trying to build a family, he was trying to build an army.

Severin gets up and tries to help Rayne defeat Kagan, but Kagan sends a horde of bats to attack Severin. He runs away from the bats, finding refuge in the ruins of a building in town. He watches out the window as Rayne and Kagan continue their vicious fight.

Rayne is starting to tire, much to Kagan's amusement. She asks him if he remembers her mother's name. Kagan tells her that she was not important enough to him for him to bother remembering her name. Furious, Rayne eyes begin glowing red. She attacks her father with superhuman speed, leaping past him with her blades. Kagan stands there, stunned. It can't be, he says. Suddenly, his head falls from his body, hitting the charred ground with a thud. His body falls a moment later. The sun begins to rise, burning Kagan's remains to a crisp.

Rayne walks away from the ruins of the church and through the destroyed Morton Main Street. Severin emerges from a building. Rayne collapses in front of him from exhaustion. She she wakes up she is in a moving car. Severin, who is driving the car, tells her to rest. He's driving them as far away from Morton as they can get.
